At the Living Library Community, we offer two unique residency program that blends community living, hands-on learning, and personal growth. Sacred hands (75$ a week) and Internship (250$ a week).

The Sacred Hands path

Work exchange for travelers who want to earn their place trough service,

hands in the soil, learning by doing

At The Living Library, every act of care is sacred. Whether it’s washing dishes, chopping wood, or tending the garden, your hands become part of something greater, a living ecosystem of service, spirit, and learning. “Sacred Hand” is more than just a volunteer role, it’s a path. You begin with the basics, and slowly, as you root into the rhythm of this land, you start weaving your own thread into the tapestry of the sanctuary.

You’ll help with:

• Cleaning and keeping shared spaces beautiful
• Cooking simple, nourishing meals
• Weeding, carrying, organizing, and assisting with daily chores
• Supporting the basic flow that keeps the Living Library thriving

These are the foundational actions of any sacred space, anchoring you in presence, humility, and care.

Then, day by day, a chord is added

As you settle in and become attuned to the space, your role begins to expand. With time and attention, you’ll begin to notice what’s needed before being told, step into greater autonomy, responding to the rhythm of the land and people, take initiative in ongoing projects, plant preservation, ceremonial preparation, sanctuary improvement,

A minimum of a month commitment is asked

• Work Hours: 5-6 hours per day, Monday to Friday.
• Contribution: $75 a week
• Accommodation: Basic private room if available or bed in shared dorm, shared bathroom and shower
• Basic food staples: rice, beans, lentils, chickpeas, spices, eggs, coffee.
• Participation in on-site events: community nights, Temazcal ceremonies, elder teachings, workshops, river hikes, and more

The internship path

For seekers ready to go deeper into ethnobotany and ceremony,

with more guidance and less labor.

• Accommodation: Private premium room with private bathroom
• Basic food staples: rice, beans, lentils, chickpeas, spices, eggs, coffee.
• Participation in on-site events: community nights, Temazcal ceremonies, elder teachings, workshops, river hikes, and more

Instead of rigid schedules, we value self-investment and experiential learning.

Here we wish to impart generational knowledge to be shared forward,

passed on through ethnobotanical theory and action.

Your path will evolve naturally, guided by your curiosity, dedication, and service to the land.

General organisation

Residents enjoy pure mountain spring water, Wi-Fi access in most areas, and shared kitchens. Community life is beautiful, but it thrives on cooperation and respect. We provide guidelines and preparation tips to help you integrate smoothly.

The nearest town, Tinamaste, is a 20 minute walk with small shops.

San Isidro is the market town, and you’re welcome to join trips there for fresh produce and supplies.

The beach is only 30 minutes away by car, or about 45 minutes by bus from Tinamaste.
